ENTR-201 The Entrepreneurial Mindset: This course identifies and analyzes the values, abilities, and personal attributes of entrepreneurs, with the premise that all people have the ability to be successful entrepreneurs. This course is the first of three required core courses in the entrepreneurship minor. Students are introduced to the basic concepts of creativity and innovation, creative problem solving and brainstorming, opportunity recognition, networking, technology utilization, effective written, verbal and non-verbal communication, new venture development and entrepreneurship as it relates to for-profit, not-for-profit, and social ventures.ENTR-401 Entrepreneurship in Action: This course is designed to explore entrepreneurial and business competencies by interconnecting ideas and objectives, through practical experience of assessing, planning, implementing, measuring and controlling a new business or social venture. The course is relevant to entrepreneurs from all disciplines who want to develop a business venture in realistic terms, or to develop new ventures inside existing organizations. It is also relevant to students who are interested in pursuing social ventures, establishing non-profit organizations and creating a business with a strong mission. ARTA-450 Practicum Seminar in Arts Administration and Management:Students intern at a practicing arts organization, where they will gain experience in day-to-day operation and support procedures. Students meet weekly to chart time, troubleshoot about organizational issues and discuss assignments.

Arts Services Initiative of Western New York (ASI) promotes the cultural sector’s vital role in economic development and the community through capacity building, collaboration, and advocacy.In this role Ms. Swan is responsible for co-leading this regional organization by: -Running multiple grant programs for arts and cultural programming (distributing over $200,000 each year to non-profit arts and cultural organizations and artists and processing over 200 proposals annually);-Designing and crafting professional development opportunities covering a range of topics including non-profit finance, marketing, management, and more;-Extensive marketing and communications plans through Constant Contact emails and administration of multiple websites (WordPress);-Organizing advocacy efforts through data collection and communications;-Recruiting and managing a team of interns and volunteers to prepare the next generation of arts managers and leaders.
