I was graduated from Palo Verde High School in 1969 and immediately was offered a job in the Escrow and Title Insurance Industry. I was a Title Insurance Policy typist for about 6 months and was transferred into the escrow department. From there I was an escrow secretary for a few years and was promoted to Escrow Officer and Manager of a Branch Office for Stewart Title & Trust of Phoenix in the early 70's. My career flourished from there. I started in the industry when we still used carbon paper for copies, one page contracts, escrow instructions were typed, ONE original and 5 copies were used, we had three document loan packages, ditto machines, very poor copy machines, we used in house messengers and the rest was done by regular mail. We hand typed settlement statements and used the adding machine for our totals... If one item was incorrect on the settlement we either used a LOT of white out or just plain DID IT OVER!The REAL beauty of the "old" days was we were able to MEET people in PERSON!
