• The main objective was to identify novel circuits from the hypothalamus to the brain stem that regulate feeding behaviors and energy expenditure.• Led an individual data analysis research project aimed to study postsynaptic neurons in the hindbrain that are innervated by neurons in the hypothalamus. • Developed data analysis skills in R and produced data tables.• Gained experience in stereotaxic injection of viral tracers for neuronal labeling purposes.• Mastered Immunohistochemistry (IHC) protocol to stain tissues of brain with interested genetic markers.• Gained experience in confocal microscopy and developing images of stained brain tissue.• Presented work at a poster symposium presentation.
