I started Bouncing Pixel with some talented young partners so I could focus on three things: working directly with clients on design projects, following my entrepreneurial passion, and getting excited about going to work again. I began my career as an architect at a time when desktop computers were a luxury and laptops were just a dream. I was at the intersection of technology and design and was drawn to new ways of communicating through animation, multimedia, games, and the web.Today, I use the design process I learned as an architect every time I go from nothing to something, whether it's for myself or my clients. We built this company to work with clients who have original ideas, unique and complex needs, and want things that don't look familiar. Those clients include Rice University, Wood Group Kenny, Children's Museum of Houston, Discovery Green, EXMAR Offshore, Baylor College of Medicine, MD Anderson Cancer Center, BP, and Quanta Services, among many others.

In 2021, when COVID was disrupting our daily routines, I began thinking about a way to protect the PSA graded baseball cards in my family collection. I had enough alone time to develop this idea and experiment with cardboard models. We quickly got to a starting point for our plastics education to begin. The end result was the creation and production of Alpha Holders.This patent pending system secures standard-size PSA slabs in tough polycarbonate, protecting them from scuffs, scratches, and cracks. Our acrylic screen provides 35% UV resistance and is 17 times stronger than glass, providing an extra layer of security between your cards and the outside world. The addition of EVA foam inserts will these holders into storage and protection devices for vintage unopened wax packs.

With creativity as our main goal, we subscribe to our own definitions regarding brewing parameters and guidelines, without sacrificing flavor or consistency. My roles in this growing enterprise included those of founding investor, board member, art director, and consultant in the areas of strategy, brand development, and design.2017 marked a huge milestone for our little beer experiment with the announcement of a new $14 million brewery, one of the largest and most visible of its kind in Houston. This facility features a large production and packaging footprint, a taproom, a 200-seat restaurant, and a rooftop beer garden.

Playnormous is an online community where health games are used to help kids stay healthy. Hard work from a talented team transformed my brainchild into a leader in the Games for Health arena. In addition to being the founder of this company, my role was that of strategic planner, team leader, web/UX designer, and visionary for the company. My role on this wonderful project ended after I resigned as Vice President of Archimage, the parent company. So it goes.

As a Principal at Archimage since 1990, I shared responsibility for the firm’s overall direction and management. My work included architecture, web design and development, graphic design, online computer game projects, and computer animation. I served in a variety of roles on these projects, including team leader, designer, project manager, developer, and search engine specialist. My responsibilities within the firm extended to staffing, budgeting, client relations, business development, and strategic planning. I joined Archimage in 1984 as a student intern during the firm’s prior incarnation as Buday Wells Architects. I was promoted to Associate Partner in 1987 and Principal/VP in 1990 when I became a licensed architect. My tenure with the company ended in September 2009 after 25 years. Soon after I started a smaller studio so I could work more closely with clients on their projects.
