I've worked in a machine shop since I was a teenager, but chose a different path in my college degrees and obtained an A.S. degree in Culinary Arts from Penn Tech and a B.S degree in Hospitality with a focus in Casino Management at Penn State. During this time I worked in all types of hospitality industries such as hotels, small restaurants, private clubs, The Kentucky Derby, and commercial school kitchens. My focus was Hospitality with pinpoint aim at serving the casino industry. The path isn't always meant to be at times, and countless phone calls, interviews, and meetings I remained at Churchmen's Machine during this time. After the Purchasing Manager left for new opportunities, I was asked to fill in until a replacement was found. I used my skills that I learned in college and my experiences and hit the ground running and learning everything I could quickly. I made changes within the position and later pushed it to be used throughout the office. I continued to make changes that saved the company money and allowed certifications to be processed efficiently with zero waste of paper. I continued working hard during their search, which they decided to end and made me the new Accounts & Purchasing Manager. I kept learning and working with my co-workers to make things better and more efficient throughout the company. As time passed, I was given the chance to run the shop floor, I made my own changes of how jobs flowed through the shop and distributed to the correct machinist. I was then changed to the Operations/Purchasing Manager which allows me to be hands-on from start to finished product. Since then I am still learning and making changes to help Churchmen's to be as efficient as possible. Nothing is perfect, everything can be tweaked and modified to allow a smoother transaction. I believe that my education and experiences have given me this mindset. I continue to race sprint cars & experience life's wonders.www.beknown.com/JeredHook
