I am a technology addict. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of my first experiences with communications technology. I began my computer obsession back in the 1980's with the Commodore VIC-20 at the age of 10. I was immediately drawn to programming in basic. Soon after, I got a Commodore 64 with a 300 baud modem. I began hosting my own BBS in my bedroom. Back then there was no volume knob to turn off the speaker on the modem. I was often woken up in the middle of the night by calls to my bulletin board. So I decided to disassemble my modem. I replaced the noisy speaker with a silent LED. I soldered it directly to the modems PC board. There was no way to see it through the modem case, so I burned a hole in the plastic case with my soldering pencil. The LED poked through and gave a visual cue that a handshake was being negotiated. That was my first hack. I have spent my life making technology work for myself and others ever since. It is a joy to be challenged by new devices and software. I love to help people understand their systems and give them the tools to make the technology provide innovative solutions.Specialties: Windows and Linux server environments is where I spend most of my time.
