I am a hardware board engineer with a strong CS background in embedded systems. Hardware development, for me, doesn't stop with circuits or PCB design: I try to find innovative solutions to the real problem, not just what is laid out in front of me. My goal when designing circuits is to identify the most cost-effective solution and working cross-functionally with other hardware engineers (mechanical, manufacturing, logic archtects, etc.) to optimize the solution. I don't hesitate to challenge the status quo, or to propose a difficult solution if I think it may improve performance or execution. I perform thorough analysis of designs and provide detail-oriented constructive feedback and the additional time and effort definitively improves the customer experience. I love the fun problems, the ones ripe for innovative solutions, and I've collaborated on patents to protect those solutions. Designing is fun, electronics are interesting, and nothing beats inventing!

Server Hardware Development EngineerDell Technologies May 2020 - PresentRound Rock, Texas, UsPortfolio board engineer designing circuits, systems, and logic architecture for enterprise servers at scale including motherboards, peripheral cards, power delivery boards, and IO cards. Developed custom reference designs in OrCAD, layout in Allegro PCB editor, and wrote design documentation for ODM partners to implement unique designs that still leverage the basic building blocks we developed. Selected components for cost, supply-chain constraints, and reliability by working closely with component vendors and internal component engineering experts.Validation lead for the introduction of DC-MHS to revolutionize and modularize the server hardware landscape. Managed test plan development for the portfolio reference design with an initial focus on functionality, and a secondary focus on collecting baseline electrical measurements to confirm margin across a variety of sub-systems. Worked with many SMEs for sub-systems to review, and then execute the test plan that prioritized tests that would impact schematic or layout. Coordinated bring-up activities with all SMEs and limited hardware while tracking issues until design change or FW fix was available. Primary responsibilities and experience in the role for the following sub-systems: x86 CPU (AMD), RearIO (USB, VGA, 1GbE Ethernet, NC-SI RBT, LEDs, and buttons), OCP NIC 3.0, internal power cables, and FrontIO (USB, DisplayPort, LEDs, and buttons). Other than the subsystems above, I am comfortable working with PCIe, I2C, SPI, eSPI, RMII, and a variety of other communication protocols. My strengths are in system design and architecture, system-level debug, and utilizing these to design the best product I can as early as possible. I'll never be done learning, so I will continue to build on my experience to learn new things rather than repeat my previous mistakes. -
Server Systems Developmenthardware EngineerDell Technologies Aug 2018 - May 2020Round Rock, Texas, UsResponsibilities include: developing test plans, debugging hardware issues and root cause analysis, decoding industry specifications for vendors, writing internal or targeted specifications, participating in design reviews (both schematic and layout reviews), and managing vendor projects from a hardware perspective, with everything that entails.Additional responsibilities include: representing my team to other teams throughout the company, developing hardware for integration test decoupling, writing software for integration test decoupling. My specific responsibilities are network interface cards and FPGA based processing accelerators -
Server Network Engineer - Graduate Development ProgramDell Technologies Jun 2017 - Aug 2018Round Rock, Texas, UsThe program is designed to introduce new graduates to the company and industry while growing their skills before transitioning to a permanent position.Role 1: Embedded system software development for integration testing decoupling Read industry standard specifications, implemented them, and developed test cases. Additional projects included implementing continuous integration in GitLab.Role 2: Embedded system hardware development for integration testing decoupling Generated hardware designs for specific applications from a set of requirements. Utilized schematic tools to generate designs, participate in design reviews, and review PCB layout files. Performed bring up testing; checked power, signals, and mechanical elements for accuracy. Debugged hardware issues and performed root cause analysis.Role 3: Portfolio Systems EngineerWith a team, developed a solution to a problem across many products. Utilized standard protocols and proprietary protocols to implement the solution. Worked with many teams to ensure the solution would solve the problem, and minimize new issues. Developed an implementation, testing, and sustaining plan for the solution. Developed embedded systems code, hardware reference design, and early stage specification for proof of concept and initial bring up testing. Worked to develop a communication protocol with the receiving entity owner and ensured that changes would be integrated. -
