During Spring 2010 I facilitated 1 and 2 day team building and environmental education courses for students ranging from 6th grade to college freshman. During the Summer I Course Directed the Passages Sailing and Sea Kayaking programs. My responsibilities as Course Director included supporting field staff by organizing course structure and curriculum, being an available resource to and developing field instructors, preparing various course reports, acting as the point of contact for students' parents and responding to emergencies. I was also site manager for the Alpine Tower structure, with myself as single point accountable for the safe operation of the tower.

My responsibilities as the Manager at Rock Spot climbing included: Creating and enforcing curriculum and policies for a startup business. Hiring, training and scheduling a part time staff of 20 and a volunteer staff of 10. Creating and implementing risk management policies. Preparing financial reports, payroll and deposits. Promoting and marketing the business through various media outlets. Responsible as head outdoor guide. Teaching individual introduction to climbing, climbing technique and lead climbing classes. Managing and teaching group team building and special events. Towing and operating a portable climbing wall. Performing maintenance on facility and computer systems.

Instructed the following courses: Intro Rock Climbing, Rock Climbing Anchors, Climbing Self Rescue, Sea Kayaking I, Sea Kayaking II, Sea Kayak Navigation, Intro to GPS, GPS Outing, Intro to Map and Compass, Map and Compass Outing, Road Cycling, Mountain Biking, Back Country CookingOther responsibilities included preparing equipment and paperwork prior to course. Maintaining equipment. Contacting participants before course. Assisting in the training of staff. Driving a 15 passenger van pulling a boat trailer. Scouting new areas. Assisting in the development of curriculum. Testing new products.

During my time in the military I managed a squad of 8 soldiers in the motorpool to perform preventative maintenance service checks and repairs on a fleet of humvee, 2 ½ and 5 ton trucks. I attended leadership school in May 2007. I also assisted in the Hurricane Katrina Recovery. Awards include 3 Army Accommodation Medals and 4 Army Certificates of Appreciation.

I worked in a maintenance capacity tending to the park grounds. This position allowed me the opportunity to use a wide variety of equipment.

As a manager my main responsibilities were maintenance related. I inspected the ropes and the climbing wall to ensure it's safe operation and kept an updated weekly log. I also assisted in the interviewing, hiring and training of staff. I also acted as a floor manager while working scheduled shifts at the climbing wall. I was the first student employee at the Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC) which allowed me the unique opportunity to be involved in curriculum and policy development. I was the first student trip leader for the OAC, which I felt was a great honor and responsibility. Trips were anywhere from 2-3 days on weekends and up to 10 days over breaks. Usually trip leaders included myself and 1 asssistant. Most trips were backpacking or rock climbing.

I was initially hired as an intern and promoted to assistant trip leader during training.The curriculum we developed focused on "positive manhood" while leading eleven 12-13 year old boys on two week sailing and backpacking expeditions in the Boston Harbor and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. We were responsible for all aspects of risk management, trip itinerary, food, and equipment for each cycle we worked.
