Working at this company for a little over a year, I had quite the rocky start. Starbucks doesn't train their employees how to make Latte Art, just how to make its recipes. Getting into the world of Bon Appetit and diving into the coffee culture taught me that I had skimmed the surface and there was a whole ocean of information waiting for me to take the plunge. It took me 6 months of rigorous research and practice before I could pull off a full leaf design or a symmetrical heart. After the first year of working there I was comfortable enough to start incorporating a metal pick into the design of my work, allowing me to pull off designs like the bear and dragon shown below. When I initially arrived at this company, I had the choice to either think of this as another coffee job, or to dive in and learn as much as possible. Accepting the latter was the best decision I made so far.
