My job is to streamline processes, create compelling marketing plans and grow our digital audience. I work with analytics to drive change and move us forward. Creating compelling promotional materials and data reports that help us make informed decisions.

In this role, I manage circulation for our 12 newspapers, oversee the in-house Corporate Call Center and manage our analytics and promotions. I've worked over the last few years on building the corporate call center from the ground up and implementing call center software from TCN and Balto. Integrating TownNews Audience+ on all of our sites as well as working with Brainworks CircSmart. In the circulation field, I've also implemented RouteSmart and CarrierTrack for our carrier-delivered publications and worked closely with the postal service on our mailed publications. The best part of my job is creating promotions for our papers and interacting with our audience. I love thinking up a promotion, building it and putting it out. Then watching the analytics come in on email reach and social reach and engagement. It's cool to watch what works and dissect what went wrong when it doesn't work. Using what I've learned from the Facebook Accelerator Reader Revenue course to increase starts, decrease stops and engage with our audience in new ways.

My job is primarily marketing our products to potential subscribers in both print and digital. There is never a dull moment when one second you can be creating an email blast to former subscribers and then transition to working with hawkers at Pendleton Roundup. I am also in charge of the corporate call center based in Astoria, OR. The call center handles incoming calls for circulation at all of our locations. We also make all outbound retention, autopay and start/restart verification calls each day for our 10 products. We definitely keep busy out here in Oregon. The rain doesn't stop us from moving forward.

As Operations Director I was in charge of day to day operations in a production setting as well as a 24/7 office. I was on the front line for production, distribution, and labor issues. Producing a "daily miracle" like a newspaper is a fast paced, stressful environment that is very rewarding. A large part of my duties were to manage, train and interact with staff to get papers produced and distributed. I know the challenges around finding, interviewing and hiring the right person for the job.

Manage all aspects of Circulation including single copy collections done by employees. Adjust draws for single copy, answer phones for customer service each day, and work with carriers on service issues. Recently took over operation of website paywall in November. In my 3 years here I have been able to reduce complaints from 7% to 1.9%. My department has taken over all calls from a company call center and has taken over operation of in town single copy.

Managed all aspects of Circulation, Single copy, Home Delivery, Third Party, NIE and TMC’s. I was in charge of overseeing the conversion from print in house to print off site. Managed all aspects of Mailroom and Distribution Center, I also managed insert zoning for the Advertising Department. I had a staff of 15 mailroom employees, carrier force of 35 carriers with distribution of 6,000 papers daily. I oversaw mailing of a 20,000 piece TMC weekly as well as ink jet labeling 1,600 papers each day. The most fun was putting together new marketing strategies that sometimes worked great and other times failed, but that's how we learn, right?!

I managed a carrier force of 50 carriers and 6,000 papers. Worked night and day shifts at a Distribution Center. I made it my goal to help customers and carriers with service issues. This led me to achieve a very low complaint ratio for my 3 years there. Verified delivery of TMC and paid products.
