I started in the IT industry as a UCS (now Reynolds and Reynolds) Client Support Representative. I was assigned clients to consult, troubleshoot, and understand their DMS (Dealership Management System) provided software/hardware. Hired by Group 1 Automotive to maintain/assist/manage projects for dealerships that were utilizing UCS DMS. Traveled extensively to the stores to help train, assist, and consult for stores concerning DMS activities. Provided IT Desktop support, Active Directory Management, IT Purchasing, and SOX audit support for our Corporate Office.Promoted to Market IT Manager for Houston/Beaumont (19 physical locations, approx 1.5k to 3k users over time) after 3 years. I managed the overall IT hardware/software support system for all stores located in the Houston/Beaumont region. Responsibilities include managing 3-5 IT techs at any given time, as well as dealing directly with General Managers, Department Managers, and the Market Director for IT projects, questions, or concerns. Oversaw many dealership acquisitions projects which entailed evaluating IT scope size, and the actual conversion to Group 1 IT Standards so that we could sell vehicles, write repair orders, repair vehicles, and sell parts on day one of Group 1 ownership.My responsibilities expanded as IT Manager to North/South Texas markets. Coverage included 4.5k users, managing 9 IT technicians, 30+ physical locations, as well as a consolidated Accounting and Call Center Department, which had 300-500 users in one area. Responsible for all IT Fixed Asset purchases for the West Region. Dealt directly with accounting for not only reconciling purchases made but our ever-increasing IT Fixed Assets Inventory. I worked with companies like HP, CDW, TrippLite, Acer, Ricoh, PC Connections to work on pricing, product life cycle, and purchasing initiatives. I took on the role of IT Projects Manager three years ago, while still being responsible for overall IT Purchasing/Inventory tracking for the company. This new role includes IT Construction Liason. This role required me to sign off on CAD drawings after I ensured that all IT standards are met for new construction or remodeling of existing structures. Responsibilities include excellent communication with the General Contractor as well as the subs being used that deal with IT infrastructure in the building. Started the Group 1 Automotive IT Helpdesk Call Center from the ground floor, implemented processes, managed agents, tracked call stats/CSI, and managed continued learning/training for agents.
