As an intern last summer at Link Mfg. in Sioux Center, IA, I completed a variety of tasks which required the use of multiple software and resources and worked with multiple engineers, as well as some members of the sales side in implementing designs. My main project was to design a test fixture to perform a durability test of a vendor component using Creo Parametric. Once the design had gone through a few revisions, and several design review meetings had been held, another employee assisted me in running a finite element analysis (FEA) simulation on the fixture to ensure that it would be able to withstand the durability test. I also created and updated tables containing standard specification information for a variety of fasteners using standards books, as well as online resources. These tables are used within the Creo program to make inserting fasteners a much more convenient and efficient process. Towards the end of the summer I worked with engineering and sales employees in designing suspension display stands for product shows. I really enjoyed the work environment at Link Mfg. and am very grateful for the opportunity I was given to gain some design experience through working on my specific project and on assisting in other designs. Presenting my project to a select group of staff at the end of the summer was also a great experience in communicating the work I had done throughout the summer.

In my internship the summer of 2016 with Black Hills Energy in Cheyenne, WY, I performed design work involving updating and implementing existing and new natural gas and electric systems in the city of Cheyenne, along with the design of a gas pressure regulator station, with the use a variety of software. Much of this design involved working with other employees and engineers in the office, which proved to be great help and support. I also completed work orders for repair of existing systems and the implementation of new systems, which required gaining knowledge of codes for each individual part and category in the catalog, such as man hours required and other specific categories in order to perform an estimate of time and cost for each job. Towards the end of my internship I also helped gather information from files to update information of specific natural gas systems by transferring them into Excel spreadsheets. I also got to assist in staking at a few job sites as well. .

As an engineering extern at the Indian Health Services (IHS) in Martin, SD, I performed a fair amount of design work in my work and training, which involved various computer programs, Using these programs, data obtained from several GPS devices was analyzed, corrected, and arranged in an AutoCAD file to draw in existing features of applicant home sites, along with design of new water and sewage systems
