The U.S. Nuclear Industry Council (USNIC) is a leading U.S. business advocate for increased nuclear energy use and global deployment of U.S. advanced nuclear technologies and services. It represents over 90 companies engaged in nuclear innovation and supply chain development, including technology developers, manufacturers, construction engineers, and key utility movers.As Chair of the Board, I lead the Board of Director's efforts to set the vision and strategic plan of the Association. The Board plays an active role in Council direction and strategy, governance, and financial oversight. My tenure included teaming up with the President and CEO to modernize the organization, which had been heavily oriented around in-person programming and facilitating policymaker engagement, through the COVID pandemic and into the "new normal." This included a refresh of Board leadership, a reorganization of Council functions, and an update of the Council bylaws. I have represented the Council externally, both before Congress (e.g. testifying in the United States Senate in support of bipartisan nuclear-related legislation), the Executive Branch, and private sector stakeholder groups. In 2022, I led a successful nationwide President and CEO executive search, transitioning Todd Abrajano to President and CEO in 2023 following Bud Albright's retirement.

The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee advises the Secretary of Commerce regarding the development and administration of programs and policies to expand the competitiveness of U.S. exports of renewable energy and energy efficiency goods and services. I have served on the REEEAC for the past two Charters - Charter 6 (2020-2021) and Charter 7 (2022-2024). I currently serve as the Vice Chair of the current charter.

I advised Senator Dean Heller of Nevada on commerce, consumer protection, energy, environmental, natural resources, transportation and related tax and national security policies as a senior member of his staff. Over the course of my tenure in the Senate, that work included spearheading public policy at the Senate Committees on Energy and Natural Resources; Commerce, Science, and Transportation; and Finance. I helped the Senator navigate a variety of stand alone bills and initiatives into law focused on expanding domestic energy and natural resources production, facilitating the R&D of innovative energy and transportation technologies, expanding infrastructure development, and improving consumer safety protections. Additionally, I served as a liaison for the Senator to national business leaders, trade associations, government officials, and other relevant stakeholders.

I managed a five person legislative team, while specifically focusing on defense, energy, foreign affairs, natural resources, tax, trade, and transportation issues. I was the lead for all work at the House Natural Resources Committee, where the Congressman achieve significant legislative success over my tenure. In that role, I navigated two substantive pieces of legislation pertaining to critical minerals and renewable energy through the committee process and to bipartisan approval in the U.S. House. Both initiatives were ultimately enacted into law. The policy team I led was successful in navigating over fifteen amendments and stand alone bills to House-passage over two Congresses, four that ultimately became law. Additionally, I served as one of the lead staffers supporting the Congressional Western Caucus. The role was focused on coalescing the 40 plus Western Caucus policymakers behind a coordinated energy policy agenda in an effort to bolster the caucus’ influence within the U.S. House and increase its effectiveness. I developed legislative and communications strategies to resolve federal issues plaguing western communities -- this included drafting legislation, amendments, statements, and floor speeches on behalf of members of the caucus.

On the legislative side, I also tracked, advised, and made recommendations on policy matters related to agriculture, energy, health care, Homeland security, telecommunications, and trade. Even though Republicans were in the minority, we were successful navigating an amendment and two substantive bills through the Democrat-controlled House.In my communications role, I was the lead DC-based communications staffer for Congressman Michael R. Turner of Ohio, responsible for implementing the member's communications strategy. This work included drafting press releases on hot button national issues, crafting speeches, placing weekly op-eds, and engaging with both local and national media. I crafted communications and legislative strategies with the Military Legislative Assistant to advance Rep. Turner’s national security priorities via the National Defense Authorization Act. Given Rep. Turner's role as the Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces, I also collaborated with House Armed Services Committee (HASC) staff to advance the Committee’s agenda and increase the member’s stature on issues related to strategic forces, missile defense, and Department of Energy nuclear-related policies.

In addition to the standard front office/administrative role, I developed the Congressman's first social media presence, including getting him started on Facebook, Twitter, and and other tools. I was also assigned a small legislative portfolio to prepare for an expanded policy role.
