Vendor integration includes writing and refining Statement of Works and soliciting RFQs.Communications IPT Lead for Orbital Reef and another program. Includes leading communications working group, communications system selection, and hardware procurements. Procurements include requirements definition, spec development, vendor down select, statement of works, NRE decisions, team alignments where possible, and ultimately the procurement execution. Communications system selection includes analyzing different commercial providers including ground stations and relay satellites. Further analysis includes STK modeling and automation looking for obstruction impacts from the vehicle and solar array slewing through different solar beta angles. Coverage analysis performed using partner ground stations to define average orbital coverage.Provide communications support to other missions including looking for comm solutions under difficult settings. Collected a list of multiple commercial ground station provider's offerings and built a combined table and down select tools. Automated STK to show gaps in coverage to determine need for other solutions.
Ground Segment Operations Lead
Responsible for Ground Segment operations. This included everything from training to staffing to ensuring that the system was ready. Scheduled operators for missions including Falcon, Dragon, and Starship.Trained new Falcon operators to expand our available operator pool. Ensured that we had a pool of certified Dragon communications controllers (CC) - made sure controllers were trained and certified prior to Dragon missions. Progressed operators into new roles when they were ready - transition from easier Falcon GEO missions to more complex launches, Starship operations, and Crew Dragon missions. Staffed Ground Segment operations team by screening new applicants and pushing forward potentials for interviews with the rest of the team. Briefed management on pre-launch status and post flight data reviews.Maintained my training and certification. Stayed proficient in the team's operations by also being one of the on-console operators.Had a small handful of direct reports. Management work included weekly 1 on 1s, ensuring tasking was sufficient, delegating where appropriate, keeping updated on team status and deadlines, and ensuring my management's concerns and tasking were handled. Also in charge of employee reviews.Completed contract renewals & updates with commercial ground station providers. Ensured contracts were current.In charge of the FCC application process for many of our operations filings. Filing was delegated but I ensured filings were correct and on-time. Created tools which heled the team file easier. Responsible for making sure we had a license prior to an event. My team was always successful - missions were never delayed due to lack of an FCC license. Helped create a process where we were licensed to launch any of our Starlink flights on any day at any time. Went from single 2 hour windows each day to 6 different 4 hour windows, effectively covering 24 hours. Allowed us to be dynamic while still obeying the FCC licensing rules.

All missions included pre-flight testing to ensure ground stations were configured and ready for support.Scheduled partner ground stations and NASA TDRS satellites. Integrated new ground stations - very detailed work. Mission planning for Falcon, Dragon, and Starship - analyzed trajectories to determine which ground assets to use, brought up additional assets when necessary, and suggested flight changes to ensure telemetry collection. Developed various automation tools using Matlab, HTML, PowerShell, Python, Atlassian, and VBA. Developed tools that automated link margin analysis on all trajectories; automatically created Confluence pages & PowerPoint charts. Analysis triggered when 3DOF trajectory was checked in. Detailed 6DOF analysis ran nightly. All analysis emailed when coverage or other issues arose. Automated STK to determine if partner antennas needed updated ephemeris. Automated post-flight analysis - pulled flight data and compared against predictions. Created in-flight time offset and 3dB beamwidth tools.Automated ground station scheduling including XML, email, and highly formatted Excel sheets. Automated TRDS Contact Requests (TCR) used in Dragon scheduling.Monitored remote ground station equipment using SNMP tools. Able to identify system/site fluctuations and troubleshoot outages or potential issues. Turned a highly noisy system into a refined process that became actionable.Designed, built, deployed, and operated mobile ground station - wholly responsible for the full system from concept to successful operations. Sent to 3 different international locations - highly successful deployments.Ground Segment's POC for briefing all customers on planned coverage.
