I have successfully founded 2 businesses, Netacea and Intechnica. Netacea is a leader in the protection of websites, API’s and mobile applications from cyber threats using agentless machine learning. It protects some of the world’s largest companies from sophisticated attacks that others cannot detect or prevent. I am proud to still be involved in their growth and success story as an NXD. Intechnica was the UK leader in Technology Due Diligence to both Private Equity and Corporate clients. In 2022 I led Intechnica to a great exit to the US company Crosslake.I have a particular interest in Innovation, Cyber Security, Machine Learning, Product Development and Professional Services to solve problems that matter.I am an investor and member of Manchester Angels.

Cytix is the first truly continuous security testing platform, focused on identifying change and using it to intelligently determine when to test. Whether it’s a developer making a pull request, threat intelligence about a new vulnerability, or a new server being deployed, Cytix takes feeds of data from across your technology stack and use this as telemetry to determine what has changed and what actions need to be taken to assess the impact that this has had on security.

As an Innovator in Residence at Lancaster University, I am part of the Northwest Cyber Security Connect for Commercialisation (NW CyberCom) project, funded by Research England’s Connecting Capability Fund (CCF). This initiative brings together six partner universities—Lancaster, Manchester, Salford, Liverpool, Manchester Metropolitan University, and the University of Central Lancashire—to transform cutting-edge cybersecurity research into impactful commercial solutions. In my role, I work directly with university researchers, entrepreneurs, investors, and industry leaders to bridge the gap between academic research and commercial success. I provide strategic guidance and practical expertise to foster a culture of innovation, helping researchers to maximize their commercialisation potential. I aim to identify new opportunities, advance project development, and address the unique commercial challenges faced by the cybersecurity sector. Together, we’re driving the next wave of cybersecurity innovation in the Northwest, translating research excellence into real-world products, services, and policies.

Netacea is a bot detection and response specialist. It provides a faster, simpler way to stop bot attacks at scale. Netacea is a recognized leader for its innovative use of threat intelligence and machine learning that enables better detection of bot attacks across websites, apps and APIs, without agents. Analyzing all web behavior at the edge, in near real-time, ensures comprehensive protection through a single, lightweight integration that is invisible to attackers.I co-founded the company in 2016 and lead the team as CEO from 2017 to 2023. I now act as an NXD with Board Advisor with a specific focus on strategic partnerships.

I founded Intechnica in 2006 explicitly to deal with the challenges of achieving optimal performance in complex IT systems. Performance is often perceived as a purely technical issue but I believe that the people involved, and company processes, are just as important. Today Intechnica is focussed on helping businesses achieve business value from technology through or assess, advise and build services.My experience spans most areas of IT including Web, ERP, Logistics, CRM and Security. I have had the pleasure and privilege to have worked with some of the best and most exciting companies in the world including GSK, Unilever, Sky, Channel 4, Ted Baker, Asos, Hobbs, Ted Baker, Nisa and Seetickets.I began my IT career as a Developer before moving into Project Management, Programme Management and Operations.
