During development I would create test pages using PHP, that were hosted on a local development computer running an Apache server, that I could send AJAX requests before porting the source over to Perl on a "Live" environment. While working with Arch Linux I wrote various packaging scripts using Arch Linux's "pacman" package build system and created a local software repository that could be used for updating servers on my local home-based development network.
