I have over forty years’ experience working with modern and contemporary art. I began my career as Curator of Kettle's Yard Cambridge and then moved to the Tate Gallery in 1983. By 1998 I became Director of Collections with responsibility for the entire Tate collection and in particular for its acquisitions policy and strategy. I have published extensively on modern and contemporary art and organize high level museum exhibitions. I advise collectors and foundations on acquisitions. From 2003 to 2020 I was the advisor to the Estate of Alice Neel in all matters relating to the functioning of the estate.Specialties: Purchasing, writing, displaying art, extensive international networks within the public and private sectors, organizing exhibitions.
