Mr. Protas practices patent law, counseling clients on IP-related matters and focusing on patent prosecution.I counsel clients on all types of patent-related matters, while focusing on securing patents in diverse technologies including process control, wireless communication, business methods, medical devices, and bioinformatics. My experience developing transmitters for NASA’s Deep Space Network at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and designing and testing mobile telephony infrastructure at Motorola Inc., contributes to my keen understanding of the interface between intellectual property law and engineering environments in both public and private sectors. I employ this understanding to develop and execute strategies that protect my clients' patent interests. As a result, my clients value the integration of skilled legal advice and vigorous advocacy with my understanding of their technologies and their businesses.My Bar memberships include: the State of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. Supreme Court, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
