Developed a VAP protocol andimplemented which has led to several years without ventilator associated pneumonia in thePICU. I have also implemented patient center rounds and bedside rounds with the nursingstaff and families to improve communication in the PICU. Ensured department's standard ofnursing practice, nursing policies and procedures meet legal and all accrediting andregulatory agency requirements. Identified and provided educational needs to improvepatient outcome. I am responsible for hiring and maintaining staff; performance ofevaluations. Managed a strict budget and have consistently stayed withinbudget.

Assisted with providing at least 4transport classes the past 2 years. Developed an in-house team in an effort to improvethe out the door times. Increased the total number of transports by 11% during 2012 andprojected 18% growth for 2013. During my leadership pediatric transports increased 31% in2012 and are projected to increase by 100% for 2013.

I provided leadership as a bedside RN in the PICU; provided critical care to patientsranging in age 0-18 years. Critical drips, intubation assistance, ventilator management,DKA, trauma, post-surgical, CRRT, NG/ND/GT feeds, electronic medical record documentation,assisted with PI plans, assisted with associate evaluations. Provided discharge teachingto patients and their families. I have ensured maintained adherence to policies andprocedures for the PICU. Developed schedules for the night staff.

Responsibilities were the same as the clinical portion of the RN charge nurse, addingfloating to Infant and Toddler's, School Age, and NICU.

Provided care to 0-4 years of age. Responsibilities included triage, precepting andmentoring new employees, participating in QI projects, performing annual evaluations andacting in the role of charge nurse. I became proficient in collecting lab specimens andrunning lab equipment; ensured appropriate care given to patients hospitalized. Provided discharge teaching to patients and their families.
