As an academic, I use the metaphor of growth to understand my role in the academy and society. It is what anchors my daily practices as I nurture future possibilities in others and society. Through teaching, research, and service, I seek to bolster people, organizations, and societies so they can more effectively understand and communicate with one another in advancing their goals and benefiting society. I teach courses that primarily focus on communication in and around organizations, including strategic communication, research methods, and general communication theory courses. My research primarily focuses on the intersections among the discourses of work, self, and society, and in communicating among differences. I have co-authored articles in the "Journal of Family Communication" and the "Journal of Applied Communication Research" as well as presented papers at conferences in the U.S. and Thailand. I welcome opportunities for collaboration with other academicians and industry practitioners.
