After spending over a decade improving the lives of urban and international youth through education in high school math classrooms, I've decided to return to what I was passionate about as a student myself: data and geographic information science. I am a lifelong learner. I have a Master's in Education from Harvard. I have a Master's Degree and Bachelor's Degree in Geography, GIS and Environmental Systems from McGill University in Montreal. I have been trained with a deep knowledge of geographic analytical concepts. My Master's thesis was published in 2008 in an academic journal article, where I created an agent-based model of gentrification in Boston using RePast, ArcGIS and City of Boston Assessor's Department data. The original code I wrote was in Java. Recently, I have been taking courses in Python, SQL and data analytics online. I have also been retracing my roots as a researcher by recently learning Netlogo, another agent-based modeling tool. I want to work in a new type of role, one where I will regularly be tasked as a problem-solver. I am passionate about urban and environmental issues and I am skilled in technical problem-solving, particularly in simulation techniques. Finally, I believe I've developed invaluable interpersonal skills through my work as an educator that make me qualified to be in a variety of positions involving collaboration, teamwork, and leadership.
