Educated in the all-round Dutch civil engineering tradition I am a professional with over 30 years of experience civil works / infrastructure design and project development. Having grown-up in Rotterdam with a father working in the port, civil-marine engineering and 'the port' been an early and long-time interest.I have a wider interest and experience in port and maritime related fields from coastal engineering and shipping and logistics to water management. I like to learn and find the connections, the why and the how of developments and how they link together.Over the years I have led project teams and managed subcontractors as well as maintaining a technical interest. Before holding my current position I was responsible for all aspects of Dutch owned Delta Marine Consultants'​ Singapore office including finances, human resources, IT, acquisition and (technical) quality of services. I also acted as principal advisor and consultant supporting clients at all stages of a project inclusive the contracting stages.I have worked on, and have been responsible for, the design of seafront structures such as jetties, quay walls, seawater intakes and outfalls etc. as well as other infrastructure works such as ship locks, tunnels and underground parking garages. I have experience in designing and reviewing several structure types in all stages of the design process, from conceptual studies to detailed designs.Interests include the ‘marine industry’, new technology and behavioural economics. Father of three, I keep busy.Why this background picture? Like a brand's logo there is a story; A keen eye will see a container port, a cruise ship and a city skyline which I feel feel expresses the 'Port City', built on trade but developing and servicing more than just the economy. The knotted rope in the foreground is also a reminder of the more traditional heritage of marine infra. Too much? it's just a pretty picture.
