Temporary 1 year contract. Responsible for a local team of 8 packaging experts, managing the daily quality in line with Heineken standards and implementing new formats / items on the packaging lines. Through trend analysis, continuous improvement projects are identified and presented to the factory management for implementation.

I created a strategic roadmap of short / medium / long-term projects to deliver packaging related savings of more than 2M Euros & grow mutually with our internal & external partners, customers and suppliers. Driving a cultural change to grow the business by investing to unlock savings through the complete value chain.Key Achievements:• Identified a ‘back to basics’ simplification on our case designs to deliver 1M euros savings & reduce our packaging inventory by 50%• Demonstrated that adopting a customer centric approach to our pack formats can save 500K Euros in prime cost savings• Mapped out the packaging value chain to facilitate new savings insights• Lead a Global Packaging Value Leadership Community of Practice to identify, ‘steal’ & share savings ideas• Reviewed the execution process, enabling us to make change faster, with less resources and save 250K Euros

Relocated to The Netherlands to develop myself and my career in Mars & gain international experience. After 6 mths as a member of the Packaging Team I was promoted as the Team’s manager. This was a big step up in my development as I had to manage my previous colleagues and also a non English native team of 6 associates.I managed a highly engaged team delivering new launches for markets & improving our quality and efficiency targets. Responsible to ensure the team were performing & recruited 10 new associates to Mars and I had to performance manage 1associate out of the business.Key Achievements:• Led, implemented and trained over 50 associates in a new globally aligned packaging specifications system. Including the global design of the system and the data migration of over 5,000 specs• Developed an Escalation Process for us to contract our support to factories, freeing up time to enable us to focus on more value added responsibilities• Recruiting, managing and developing a team of 6 associates for 12years. 5 of the associates I recruited have stayed & developed their career within Mars• Ensured continuity of supply and savings of 2M Euros to the Veghel site when we exited a relationship with Amcor. During this process we introduced 2 new suppliers to the site and moved over 500 packaging items within 20 weeks• Consistently delivered our cost saving targets derived from tender negotiations more than 10M Euro savings. This involved auditing, managing and scheduling trials to move packs between suppliers• I secured an in-plant resource from a supplier, even though we had removed 750K Euros of business from them, enabling my team to deliver more projects & re-build the relationship with the supplier• Represented R&D Packaging in the approval meeting for sign off of new product launches & packaging changes.• Created a step change in project Risk Assessment ensuring it continued evolving throughout a project• Introduction of a new supplier within 12 weeks

I stepped out of my comfort zone to become the UK Christmas Seasonal Marketing manager, with no formal marketing training I developed a seasonal range of approx. 20 items, 8 of these were new pack formats, of which the Maltesers bucket and Red and Green M&M’s are still active items. I learnt to work with Sales teams, lead the development team and process. I had financial responsibility for our seasonal portfolio of more than 5M GBP in sales revenue.After the seasonal role I returned to packaging, where I collaborated in a multifunctional team creating the stage & gate process we still use today when launching new product and packaging items (QuEST).

At SC Johnson Wax I was responsible for ensuring the factories ran efficiently & new product introductions were fully tested on the lines.I looked after the Glade brand / Toilet Duck / Mr Muscle and Brillo pads.

Here I first learnt to work in a multi-disciplined team. Together we were responsible for delivering both new product and packaging ideas. I made sure the Jif lemon was given a tamper evident cap. I experienced at first hand the concept of lean manufacturing and this inspired me to look at things in a different way & always try to remove the waste, while retaining the true value.

Started my career in Packaging.I looked after the Mediclear brand and the mint foot care range, which I am proud to say, are still today packed in the jars and tubes I developed.
