Jerome Freeman has extensive experience and a successful track record in bringing about curriculum change that has made a real difference to learners and their schools and colleges. For 10 years he led national education policy and operational programmes as part of his work at the QCDA. Before that he served in the local authority advisory services for the London Borough of Greenwich and Derbyshire, working in primary and secondary schools, and leading developments in history and humanities. This followed 14 years as a subject leader and teacher of history, geography, citizenship, English, and RE.As a senior curriculum adviser at the QCDA he played a key role in the development and implementation of the curriculum, qualifications and assessment in England and had responsibility for managing large scale educational projects. He worked with government departments, national agencies, awarding bodies, local authorities as well as directly supporting schools. In history education, he led national curriculum reviews for primary and secondary, the accreditation of new GCSE and GCE qualifications, and the publication of a major website that supported innovative and effective approaches to the implementation of the history curriculum in primary and secondary schools across England. He worked with the BBC, C4 Learning and the heritage sector including the British Museum and the National Maritime Museum.
