The Bermuda Coalition ’BC’ a volunteer group was formed in 2011. The Mission of the Bermuda Coalition is to bring together local resources and experience to decrease the community social ills of anti-social behaviour, violence and substance abuse. Our Vision is a community where all citizens are safe, healthy and living in harmony. The ‘BC’ has now been certified by CADCA as a recognized coalition and has had the following training. Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) training is collaborative, community-based and participatory. It is grounded in research and prevention science and proven to be effective. Independent evaluations conducted by Michigan State University shows that coalitions who receive training and technical assistance from CADCA demonstrate increased capacity to develop comprehensive strategies which reduce substance abuse and positively impact community problems. It has also been shown that participants have increased capacity to engage youth, thereby creating a more progressive problem-solving approach to address alcoholism, drug misuse and abuse, crime, violence and related issues. BC completed their training on August 9th 2014 and received graduation certificates from CADCA.
