Most managers became a manager due to their past successes. This is a complete 180 degree shift for them. They now are responsible for people and their livelihoods. Research has proven that a team’s performance and productivity are directly linked to how they are led.Expectations have changed. They often do not have the skill sets required to be an effective manager who positively contributes to the company’s bottom-line. This is the same for new supervisors coming out of college or the people who have been with the same company for decades. Management is not easy. The good news: Management is a skill that can be learned.Crestcom is a professional development company. This is their expertise and proven for over 23,000 companies across 60+ countries.Professional development builds the confidence and skills of managers, supervisors, leaders, and executives. • City Of Chattanooga-Offfice Of Sustainability
    Business Development Manager
City Of Chattanooga-Offfice Of Sustainability Jan 2011 - Apr 2012
Sustainability is meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Sustainability has been widely adopted by the world’s leading businesses as a way to grow their business with a focus on long term value as opposed to short term gain. For governments, sustainability is about looking at life-cycle costs rather than just up front costs and spending tax payer dollars on projects that improve the quality of life of the community today while planning for the growth of tomorrow. My role from an 'external' perspective requires leadership in the collaboration with all pertinent partners with business, community, public, private, financial, philanthropic and educational organizations with general strategies and planning with the Office of Sustainability. The purpose is to have these organizations understand the definitions and the details of all aspects of sustainability methodology including the goals, benchmarks and metrics associated with successful implementation. From an 'internal' perspective: develop and lead the implementation of a structure and organized system within the Office of Sustainability. This includes the basics of scheduling and running effective meetings. Also designing office systems that promote team work and efficient communications with metrics that meet well established goals. Train team members within the Office of Sustainability on the business practices required to operate a ‘lean’ office environment.
