Head of Credit Structuring Established the credit structuring and advisory platform for the Americas. Won several key risk advisory transactions for asset management and bank clients on complex structured credit portfolios ($25+ billion). Structured ReREMICs to improve capital treatment under Basel II for downgraded securities. Executed several billion USD of structured repos, including the bank's first “evergreen” facilities. Researched implications of Dodd-Frank legislation for the bank as well as institutional clients and created solutions for asset allocation, liquidity and collateral management. Repackaged emerging market debt with cross-currency swaps for South American institutional investors to mitigate currency risks and achieve higher yields.

Head of Credit Derivatives Structuring, AsiaResponsible for building the structured credit derivatives franchise in Asia. Developed and executed regulatory capital transactions for the bank’s Asian loan portfolio. Originated, structured and marketed synthetic CDO’s, CLN’s and basket products targeting banks, insurance companies, asset managers, hedge funds and wealth management clients. Executed transactions in Taiwan, Singapore, Korea, Thailand and Japan by tailoring products to optimize the risk/reward requirements under very diverse regulatory environments.

Head of Credit Derivatives Structuring, AsiaRelocated to Asia to manage a team of 4 structurers responsible for creating structured credit investments with US, European and emerging market underlying assets. Represented the Fixed Income division on the deal team which won the Bank of China IPO mandate, a key strategic transaction for UBS’ investment banking platform in Asia. Created CLN’s which provided exposure to high yielding credits while eliminating the credit default exposure, achieving attractive risk/return profile for a large bank client.Credit Derivatives StructurerHired as senior structurer to develop the structured credit derivatives team in Europe. Restructured a German insurance client’s portfolio of unrated cash CLO and synthetic CDO equity positions into an investment grade note to improve capital efficiency under Basel I. Developed a principal-protected CSO retail product for Nordic region which incorporated a tax efficient overlay, creating the first product to distribute CSO equity into retail clients.

Credit structuring in NY and LondonRebuilt the synthetic securitization business in Europe by optimizing both Basel I regulatory and economic capital efficiency for bank clients. Utilized portfolio credit default swaps to transfer credit exposure from banks to investors. Asset classes included corporate loans/bonds, Mittelstand loans, ABS, CDS, and residential mortgages.

Credit Derivatives StructurerDesigned risk management and MTM systems for total return and credit default swaps - incorporating default risk, loss-given-default assumptions and loan equivalent metrics. Built Monte Carlo models for scenario analysis and stress testing to gain internal approvals. Developed cashflow models, reviewed documentation and liaised with major rating agencies on 19 arbitrage synthetic CLO deals. Executed balance-sheet synthetic CLO transactions for the bank to optimize regulatory capital. Financed $14 billion of leveraged loans with ABCP conduits for synthetic CLOs.

Marketed single-board computers based on Motorola RISC chips for embedded industrial and defense applications.

Developed real-time digital image processing applications for medical imaging, airport security scanners, robotics and machine vision clients on PC and DEC MicroVAX platforms.The company's equipment was used by scientists at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution to help find the wreckage of the RMS Titianic.

Created software for testing equipment and the fire control computer systems on the US Army’s AH-64 Apache attack helicopter.
