★ In 2008, I was offered the unique opportunity to be the single, dedicated on-board voyage physician for the "Atlantic Crossing 1" with Jennifer Figge and crew. I eagerly accepted the opportunity with passion and enthusiasm, and I was involved in the medical and logistical aspects of preparing for the adventure.★ I/we ultimately crossed the Atlantic Ocean on a 14.7 meter Privelege catamaran ("Carried Away"), with a total of 6 souls aboard, as Jennifer was attempting to swim across the Atlantic. Departed from St. Vincent, Cape Verde and arrived at Trinidad/Tobago. Not only was this an exciting journey, but was also a true test of teamwork, reliability and cross-functionality, as well as maintaining team morale in difficult situations. Oh, and the vessel sank near the end of the journey!

Soft skills were essential to function properly, as well as the technical skills to adapt to the particular ER environment.
