Growing up, my parents instilled a strong commitment in my sister and me to serve others and to value economic empowerment. My mother was a social worker who launched an impactful and highly-respected charity named Clothe-A-Child from our dining room table. Clothe-A-Child went on to provide new clothes to thousands of indigent children. My Dad was a serial entrepreneur, whose passion was helping businesses succeed and he was a co-founder and Board Chairman of the first black-owned bank in the state of Kentucky. My sister and I were taught by our parents to live out the biblical principles,” For We are Our Brothers Keeper” and “To Whom Much is Given, Much is Required”.
