The software market is developing quickly for the fleet industry. Listening to our clients over the years has been key to retention and new sales. Something we heard a few years back was the concern of “willful negligence.” I asked this fleet manager to elaborate on his comment. He stated, “I’m concerned that our managers will ignore the increasing volume of data coming in from the telematics device and when questioned about a driver in an accident, the manager will not have an appropriate response about how they were managing driver behavior.You see, there’s a disconnect between the telematics and video data being generated automatically, the manager that needs to review it, the face to face with the driver/employee, and the intentional effort to improve the behavior all while documenting this experience.I once had the CEO of a major vehicle camera company tell me that they cannot control the single point of failure of their offering. The issue was not the camera, the video, the customer service, or the training workflow they provide. It was the fact that they cannot control how the training discussion will be conducted between the manager and the employee. The conversation can look very different between two different managers and two different employees.With this information, my business partner and I entered the software business and created Predictive Coach, behavior-based automated driver training.
