Responsible for PSM program compliance and refrigeration/utilities project identification, design, approval, and execution.

In this position I was responsible for the daily operation and compliance of a vast ammonia refrigeration system comprised of two individual sites and several stand alone systems. Some of my daily responsibilities include Capital project planning and management, materials orders, personnel safety, administrative services, PSM program compliance, IIAR standards, as well as service and maintenance systems. In addition to the Refrigeration duties I am also Superintendent of Waste Water Treatment, Building and Grounds, and Fabrication with three salaried supervisors and hourly technicians as subordinates in the areas of responsibility.

In this position I am responsible for Capital Project planning, implementation, and management. I am responsible for many facets of Project Engineering and Management. I am involved in all plant capital projects and budgeting. My general duties are scope and budget development, lay out design, construction supervision, bid processing, capital request processing, and final installation.

In this position I was responsible for overseeing day to day operations of the refrigeration system, Capital project planning and management, materials orders, personnel safety, administrative services, PSM program compliance, IIAR standards, as well as service and maintenance systems. The plant consists of 165,000lbs of ammonia in two separate systems which are fully automated controlling 5 recirculators, 19 compressors, 11 condensers, 100+ air units, 24 chillers, PR and DX evaporators, 6 ice makers, with zone temperatures ranging from 65 to –40 degrees F. I also have experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical systems from DC circuitry to 4160 Volt systems, PLC systems, Water Treatment, Energy Conservation, Load Calculations, Preventive/Predictive Maintenance, PSM system development, OSHA, USDA, EPA, HACCP compliance. I have one of the lead roles in a Technician Training Program that has been implemented here. I have led the Utilities team through many improvements in compliance, operator training, safety, technological advances, and ergonomics in my time here. My group has also maintained a near perfect safety record in my time here.

I came onboard with this company as a start up plant; during my time here I was responsible for installation, operation and maintenance of paper processing equipment. Including folders, boxing machines, robotics, vacuum pumps, air compressors, hydraulic systems, conveyors, and air handlers. All of this equipment was state of the art and fully automated with PLC and Servo control.

In this position I was responsible for the operation and maintenance of a 30,000lb Ammonia Refrigeration system, Potable water system, hot water system, waste water treatment plant, load management generators, air compressors and steam generation.During my time here I gained much knowledge on the above systems which include electrical/electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, water treatment, safely working with dangerous chemicals, equipment installation, Welding (TIG/Stick), Preventive/Predictive Maintenance, PSM program and compliance with both OSHA and IIAR standards, environmental compliance, ISO standards as well as general maintenance skills. I gained a lot in my time with this company, starting out as a very limited experience technician and leaving as a shift leader with much experience in many aspects of the Utilities Maintenance field.
