Led the US Shale Legal team, as well as the Marketing Legal and Regulatory Compliance teams. Jerrad also provided legal support and services to all aspects of CNOOC’s US Shale business (South Texas and Wyoming), to all CNOOC commodity marketing and trading activities in Canada, the United States, and offshore Guyana. He also supported CNOOC's operated and non-operated power generation assets in Canada (natural gas and wind). Jerrad has experience successfully planning and executing major projects, managing litigation and disputes, as well as negotiating and drafting of material commercial agreements including: midstream transportation and gathering agreements, marketing agreements, joint venture, asset purchase and sale agreements, and other commercial transactions concerning the development of oil, gas and power properties. Further responsibilities included: setting the legal strategy for the US Shale business, including management of all contracting, litigation, regulatory and arbitration issues related to joint ventures, as well as legal and risk management; corporate commercial legal support to the marketing and production entities; provision of legal services related to regulatory compliance, acquisitions and divestitures, disputes, commodity purchases & sales, marine cargo sales, and the optimization of regulated and unregulated pipeline gathering and transportation assets, rail capacity and storage infrastructure.

Responsible for providing legal advice and support for:• all activities conducted by the Canadian marketing entity, including corporate & commercial legal support, marketing and trading activities supporting CNOOC’s interests in the Long Lake SAGD operation, NE British Columbia natural gas assets, Syncrude and Hangingstone; as well as the optimization of regulated (Trans Mountain, Keystone, Enbridge Mainline) and unregulated pipeline assets, rail assets and storage tank infrastructure; • all activities conducted by the US Marketing entity, including marketing and trading activities supporting CNOOC’s interests in on-shore US shale and tight oil production (including US storage tank and pipeline infrastructure), offshore Gulf of Mexico production, and offshore Guyana (Liza), including marine cargo sales; • all activities conducted by the UK Marketing entity, including marketing and trading activities supporting CNOOC’s interests in the North Sea and offshore Africa, including marine cargo sales; and• all activities related to CNOOC's operated (Balzac 120 MW gas fired power station, Long Lake co-gen facility) and non-operated (Soderglen Wind Farm) power generation assets.
