I work at Aoba-BBT’s Musashi International School Tokyo (MIST) in Mitaka, Tokyo. While here, I created an after-school care program incorporating STEAM activities called WIN STEAM Care. I created the business plan, brand, identity, logo, promotional materials, webpage, online booking system, and most of the other systems we needed in place to open.The school is a Cambridge-sponsored school with Cambridge curriculum and assessments. I function as the school’s Cambridge Exams Officer for their tri-annual exam series. In this role, I schedule and run the exams and ensure all materials are stored securely and administered properly to be sent back to Cambridge for review. I led the school’s Council of International Schools (CIS) certification team during the first year. Together we worked on preparing documents, policies, and systems procedures required for certification by CIS. During the first two years, I functioned as the school’s social media manager. I created accounts for the sites as well as advertising and promotional content for them. I also ran the school’s media club.I teach many Cambridge AS and A-Level & IGCSE high school courses depending on the needs of the school: Business, Design & Technology, Digital Media & Design, and First Language English.

I was the Head native English instructor for HS and MS English courses. I was in charge of choosing textbooks and creating syllabi, lesson plans, and assessment tests. I served as a liaison to my Japanese counterparts to make sure that the courses integrated well with their other studies. I also developed interactive promotional lessons for their bi-annual Open Campus events, which were designed to boost yearly enrollment.

I worked at Tokai Sagami and Wako private schools as an English teacher for their HS and MS students. At Wako, I was also in charge of teaching and designing lessons for their special needs students.

I worked at Yamate High School as an English Instructor for their HS students. I also worked at a trade school in Chigasaki teaching English lessons to their HS students. Lessons were trade-specific and focussed on delivering only the language needed for them to succeed.

I worked part-time conducting 2-hour business English lessons at various Japanese companies throughout Tokyo and Kanagawa prefectures.

I served at RTC Great Lakes Chicago, Illinois; Ft. George G. Meade, Maryland; Bethesda, Maryland; Yokota Air Base, Japan; Yokosuka Base, Japan; and Atsugi Base, Japan. My rate was a Public Affairs Specialist. My responsibilities included public relations, broadcast journalism, print journalism, photojournalism, and content creation for base TV programs and websites. Publications were published locally as well on the US Military’s Stars and Stripes Pacific region newspaper and the US Military’s Stars and Stripes worldwide cable channel. I also worked as a radio host for base stations. We reported on local news and events, introduced songs on a playlist, and read spot commercials for our local affiliate sponsors.I served as public relations agent for many VIPs who would come to entertain our troops through the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) programs. For example, I took care of several VIPs during my military career: the band Everclear, the All American Rejects, Billy Blanks of Billy’s Bootcamp, as well as the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters!!!Public relation duties included the following: picking up the VIPs at their accommodations, catering to their needs, taking them to location spots, taking them on tours, introducing them to key military personnel, taking them to our base video recording studio for on-set interviews, and assisting them in their general entertainment wants or needs.On-set interviews were normally conducted by myself: this was a Saturday / Sunday gig that many did not want to volunteer for, hence all of the above plus script writing, lighting, camera set-up, and general set design was all on me. For the most part, I was a one-man show. It was an extremely challenging but equally rewarding experience.

I was the general manager and the business partner of a concept retail outlet called Chain Reaction. My partner and I started the business from the ground up: the concept, identity, brand, and every other design element. We sold the latest Brazillian women’s fashion items that we imported wholesale from Florida.

I accompanied a small non-profit research team to Egypt as a writer, videographer, and technical support expert in December of 97 and in July of 98. While stateside I was responsible for scripting presentation material and setting up technical equipment for big hall multimedia presentations for large audiences in Pasadena, Cal., Laughlin, NV., Phoenix, AZ., and Sedona, AZ.In Egypt, I set up and organized film locations, interviews, and B-roll shots at the Great Pyramids, surrounding villages, and in Cairo. The environment was often intense, so cleaning, charging, and packing of the technical equipment was paramount to our success. Scripts often had to be written off the cuff on-site just minutes before the scheduled shot was to take place. It was a high-stress job, but also very exciting.

I was the general manager and business partner of a weight-lifting supplement, work-out gear, and health-food bar named Rocks. We bought a corner space inside of Planet Fitness and started the business from the ground up. I was in charge of store layout, ordering, stocking, inventory, pricing, as well as the menu and concept design for the health-food bar.
