I have 27 years of experience as a Registered Professional nurse with a diverse background including, but not limited to: quality, compliance, mentoring, public speaking and clinical documentation improvement. I have been recognized for my dedication, organization, professionalism, and reliability. I have a solid work history with proven longevity. I pride myself in continuously looking for ways to further my education and knowledge. During my years of experience as a nurse, I have also had the opportunity to sit on our hospital team of Quality Professionals. In this role, I assisted my manager with creating our specific units quality plan. Then, using our quality plan specifics, I would audit charts and report off to the team on a monthly basis. I have also participated in quarterly skin round audits for decubiti Present on Admission (POA).I have also been tasked with precepting and training new nurses to the unit. I enjoy teaching and training as I have a passion to inspire other healthcare professionals to strive to exceed standard levels of service.Most recently I have been part of the coordination and implementation team for VA CDI Pro software for Nuances VA clients. I stay abreast of Coding and Regulatory updates and incorporate them into the CDI program offerings. Ongoing Clinical Documentation and Coding training and services for our clients including Coders, CDI Specialists and Providers. Support for our client’s by means of analysis of reports and CDIS work in the software with monthly reporting of CDI metrics to the site with re-education and training to staff. I have also provided mentoring training/orientation and support to the other CDI Consultants on the government team.I am a member of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and have successfully passed their Certification exam for Certified Professional Coder (CPC). My reason for doing this was to broaden my skillset for opportunities such as this one. I am also a Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) through ACDIS.
