As an analyst at Accenture, it was my responsibility to quickly learn the skills that I would need to be a valuable asset to both our clients and to Accenture. With a six week intensive training course, I was given a run down on system testing, functional and technical requirements gathering, team environments, and current concerns addressing the IT industry. On my first project at Accenture, I was assigned to a team tasked with building an ETL function for a major insurance company that would tie in their Policy and Claims components to their General Ledger. Two weeks after I was brought onto the project, my supervisor was relieved from his position my the project manager, and I was given the title as lead analyst. As lead analyst, I would serve as the first point of contact for our clients, including the CFO and the Senior VP of Finance and his team. Since our component was the only part of the system that touched every other piece, I made it a main priority to learn the system end-to-end. By scheduling meetings with the project leads of all other components, meeting with every knowledge expert I could find, and leveraging my contacts, I was able to build a composite view of the entire system. This information not only helped me foresee possible issues in the future and determine possible bottlenecks, but it was called upon by the Senior Executives of the project. One month after being on the project, I was called into the Senior Executive design meetings to present my findings since I was one of only two people who knew the end-to-end functionality. Other duties that I was in charge of was the technical and functional design documents, maintaining the traceability matrix to ensure all requirements were met, and mentoring two analyst assigned to me upon my supervisors removal. Was in charge of briefing the client on a weekly basis, maintaining a list of possible risks to the project and extension of release date.
