We were the exclusive US distributor for a pelvic floor muscle exercise device developed by a company in Finland. That company was sold in 2016 and the acquirer stopped manufacturing the device in 2019. Over 55 years experience working with physicians plus decades in the medical school, research and medical device industry.

As coinventor of the technology for a point-of-care test for plasma sodium, with applications in detecting and monitoring dehydration in congestive heart failure patients on diuretics, the elderly, soldiers and athletes, was part of the team commercializing this invention and raising money from angels and VCs. While we won the semifinalist position in 2006 and 2007 at the MIT Entrepreneurship Competition and won an award both years in the Soldier Design Contest at MIT, manufacturers of devices only to be used in hospitals got permission to sell a home test, so we closed the company.

Built a former medical device marketing company into a successful manufacturer of surgical lasers. Established a manufacturing facility and staffed it to produce a million dollars of product a month; this made the company an acquisition target, and in June 1995 the company was acquired by Palomar Medical, which had no manufacturing facility of its own. Our work in modifying one of our dermatology lasers for removing hair was pivotal in starting the laser hair removal market, and in Palomar's joint effort with the Gillette Corp. (now P&G) to develop the "laser razor." My experience working with lasers since 1966 was critical in solving the many problems of the company's ruby laser product. The acquiring company did not need a second Director of Operations nor a second Director of Engineering.

Directed the development of several ultrasonic surgical devices for fast removal of ocular cataracts. Reduced surgical time from 45 minutes to 90 seconds by using high power ultrasound to emulsify the cloudy ocular lens so it could be vacuum evacuated from the eye's anterior chamber. Introduced five new products within my first four months there. Revised the design of one ultrasound probe to increase its life by 2000 percent.

I managed the development of several medical devices for eye surgery, including novel treatments for glaucoma, central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR), and other eye diseases.
