Jerry A. Culp is a strategic and purpose-driven executive leader and with exceptional innovation expertise and a record of significant market creation and business growth. Culp has a 36-year history of leading the conceptualization, development, and commercialization of many market-changing, high-tech product platforms, including creation and building of required organizational structures. Culp is the co-founder of Transcendent Technologies LLC. Transcendent is a boutique engineering firm specializing in multidisciplinary problems and systems with deep expertise in the MedTech space.Previously Culp was with Stryker Corporation 31 years and ultimately served as the Vice President & General Manager of the IMT (Incubation of Medical Technology) business unit and the SGTC (Stryker Global Tech Center) at Stryker Corporation (NYSE:SYK), a world-leading medical technology company with $17B in revenue. As the leader of Stryker’s IMT group located in Kalamazoo MI, he was responsible for incubating new businesses, including team and technology architectures required to ensure Stryker's continued leadership in future medical markets around the globe. Culp and the IMT group envisioned and led Stryker’s successful entry into surgical robotics. As the leader of the SGTC he was responsible for growth and development of Stryker’s shared R&D center located in Gurgaon India with 800 FTEs serving all Stryker divisions. Previously Mr. Culp served as Vice President of Research and Development at Stryker's Instruments Division where he managed a global R&D team. He holds 29 patents with additional applications pending.Before joining Stryker Corporation in 1991, Culp was with Radian Research for 6 years ultimately serving as Director of Research & Development. Radian Research is a world leader in providing metrology-level calibration equipment to the electric utility industry.Culp currently serves as the board chair for the Kalamazoo Air Zoo Additionally, he is the board president of Stryke Force, a FIRST Robotics organization winning world championships in 2017 and 2018. Mr. Culp also served as a member of the Engineering Advisory Council for the University of Michigan for 6 years. Past roles have included board seats and advisory roles for numerous commercial organizations.Culp grew up on an Indiana farm ultimately attending Purdue University where he received his BS in electrical engineering technology in 1986. Culp is an avid motorsports fan and has been heavily involved in designing and driving race cars for the past 40 years earning several championships.
