    After the sale of Spectrum Planning, I provided consulting support to the World Bank on Frequency Monitoring Systems in Bangladesh, Mauritius, Mexico, Pakistan, Paraguay, Philippines and Sri Lanka. Later I taught CDMA technology from the IS-95, CDMA2000 & and 3G standards to clients worldwide including Argentina, Australia, Israel, South Korea and other countries. In recent years, I have provided domestic consulting engineering support to Micronet and Lockard & White (L&W). The L&W work has been heavily focused on wireless Smart Grid system applications, and includes related FCC filings in a wide variety of auctioned frequency spectrum bands.

    SPI provided engineering services in Spectrum Management, Telecommunications Consulting, Frequency Coordination, Microwave Path Surveys, Wireless Area Coverage Analysis, National Monitoring Systems Planning, etc. I brought personal expertise in large satellite networks, and won contracts with Equatorial Communications, Scientific Atlanta, Cylix Communications, The Associated Press, and numerous others.The company was an innovator, providing consulting support to the first spectrum deregulation study in the UK. When the Thatcher administration began deregulating the frequency spectrum, a wholly owned subsidiary, Spectrum Planning UK was formed and located in London. Another subsidiary, American Wireless, was formed to purchase and market satellite transponder segments to smaller users, and an equity position was taken in Pyramid Video, located in the National Press Building in downtown Washington, D.C. A federal subsidiary, Spectrum Analysis and Frequency Engineering (SAFE) was formed in Vienna, VA and focused on Federal Markets. SPI was sold in 1988, later merged into Comsearch.The investors in SPI did extremely well. The first group sold at the end of three years, getting 7X their original investment. The last group stayed for eight years, and got 100X.
