I spent most of my formative years turning innovative Agri-Food ideas into exciting products that people want and need. My early career focused on the pursuit of my mainstream teaching and research interests at Newcastle University. For the past 20+ years, I have largely pursued my business interests/passions. My first venture was Biofresh, now Biofresh Group Ltd. (bio-fresh.com; sproutstop.co.uk), then multi-award winning Geneius Laboratories (sold to international services provider SYNLAB in 2017; geneiuslabs.com) and most recently APIX Nutrition Ltd/APIX Biosciences NV (apix.nutrition.com) an exciting venture into the international specialist livestock feed market. Following the sale of Geneius I relocated to the West coast of Scotland where I developed a new interest: renewable energy. I am a Founding Director of the rapidly-growing Kintyre Wind Group of companies - the prime purpose of which is a 'Robin Hood' role to raise significant capital, invest it in shared ownership of specific windfarm developments and then donate all the profits to specifically-established charities who fuel worthy projects associated with local development plans. The first of these community shared ownership companies are already fully operational (see: www.kintyrewind.com; www.eastkintyre.org). We are the only organization in Scotland recognized by the FCA as a sponsor for multi-community ownership in renewable energy developments based on an equal split between partnering communities. Multiple Community Shared Ownership projects are currently at various stages of negotiation.
