Designed municipal and industrial water treatment plants utilizing the MIEX resin exchange process. Implemented design standardization and process control using SolidWorks and PDMWorks to increase design accuracy and reduce design time. Interfaced with Orica MIEX and client engineers from across the U.S. and around the world.

Contractor using CADKey, MasterCAM and SolidWorks for plastic injection mold design, water treatment plant design and CNC vertical machining center programming. Serviced multiple clients for medical, automotive, aerospace, defense contractors, firearms and other industries. Full solid modeling, fabrication drawings and 3-axis and 5-axis CNC programming.

Programmed and operated 5' x 10' MotionMaster 5-axis router for trimming thermoformed parts. Instrumental in moving CNC department from SmartCAM to MasterCAM. Assisted in programming Fadal 3-axis machining centers, building and maintaining thermoform molds.

Tooling manager for specialty compressed time manufacturer of plastic injection molds and plastic products serving telecommunications industry. Started tooling shop and expanded production capabilities. Supervised 8 tool makers. Using CADKey, SolidWorks and MasterCAM, designed prototype and production injection molds, programmed, setup and operated Fadal and Haas vertical machining centers. Setup and operated manual and CNC Charmilles electrical discharge machines (EDM). Scheduled all machining operations, production schedules. Worked closely with senior design engineer on utilization of Pro Engineer CAD and two (2) 3DSystems Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) machines for prototyping nylon parts and direct metal sintering of cavity and core inserts for injection molds.

Custom plastic injection mold builder serving medical, aerospace, defense contracting, automotive and other industries. Designed plastic injection molds using CADKey. Created standardization design procedures using the power of CADKey 'Pattern" files. Standardized job sheet build and instruction processes. Programmed Dah Li 3-axis CNC mill using MasterCAM, also setup and operated same. Setup and operated manual Charmilles EDM machine. Scheduled manufacturing flow, redesigned shop layout to optimize work flow. Installed Windows NT server with peer-to-peer network in order to centralize file management and reduce file copy errors. Worked with owner to provide clients with timely, accurate project bids and implement "The Demming Method" of error reduction.

Designed drafting templates, standard geometric shapes and custom designs for Steelcase, HON , Herman Miller and other companies. Designs were hand drawn on graph paper, all geometry and trigonometry of data points were hand calculated to 4-decimal places. Data was entered into proprietary CAD system using PDP-11 computer using two (2) 8-inch floppy drives. Then produced either paper tape or direct download to one of four, 7-spindle 2-1/2 axis routers. Setup and operated 7-spindle routers, 15-ton & 30-ton punch presses, stack cutter. Researched, proposed and implemented transition from proprietary PDP-11 system to PC based BobCAD design and programming system.

Enlisted in US Army as MOS 19E Armor Crewman, attended Basic Training at Ft. Know, KY. Stationed a Camp Casey, South Korea in May 1982, C Co, 2/72 Armor, 2nd Infantry Division as Private E2. Assigned as Gunner on platoon sergeant's tank. July 1982, unofficial, temporary promotion to Acting Corporal and assigned as tank commander to C33, M48A5E8 tank. Competed and and won 2nd ID Division Soldier of the Month competition for November 1982. Performed all duties assigned as tank commander to a high level. PCS to Ft. Hood, TX in May 1983, C Co, 2/8 Cav, 1st Cavalry Division as Private E3. Unit was beginning transition to Division '86 battalion model, so was transferred with others to form new D Co, 2/8 Cav, 1st CD. Promoted to Corporal E4 February 1984. Participated in successful unit transition to M1 Abrams tank adoption and MOS change to 19K. Promoted to Sergeant E5 November 1984. Initially assigned to platoon sergeant's tank as gunner, then assigned to D23 as Tank Commander. Received numerous awards, commendations including Army Achievement Medal (w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon. Honorable Discharge in February 1986.
