Materials ManagerCardinal Health (Formerly Allegiance Healthcare) Manufacturing Plant May 1999 - Oct 2021One of the main reasons I accepted a position with this facility was the challenge I was given. The plant materials make up 50% of the cost of the product. They were running $500K negative to plan due to lack of cost controls and poor vendor management. I came in and immediately started Supplier Consolidation and establishing contracts with all suppliers, this created buying power and price stability. All materials went to JIT deliveries or Vendor Consigned Inventories, this increased raw material inventory turns from 11 to 20. I also removed all printing from the corrugate and started using box labels which resulted in a savings of $65K per year. The Vendor Consigned Inventory project dropped the monthly average inventory value by over $100K. I was also a member of the Management Team; the plant received the Associated Industries of Missouri - Plant of the year Award for 2002. This award was based upon the overall results of the facility. Also, in 2001 my team received the Supplier Diversity Achievement award. It recognizes Material Managers that over achieved their targets with respect to Supplier Management and Diversity. We duplicated this achievement in 2002, 2003, & 2004. I am proud we are the benchmark in our company in regard to working with Small Businesses & Minority Owned Businesses. -
