What a run?! We are so grateful to have returned a significant premium to our LP's with our secondary market sale of TEXO's ownership in Employer Direct Healthcare (now called, Lantern). And yet, there is more to come with new adventures and some exciting investments still to work on (some not in healthcare!?).It's now official: I exited TEXO in May, 2024 - however, I will remain supportive and stay on the boards of two of our portfolio companies (OpenMarkets Health & Alafair Biosciences) which I have passionately supported from their very first days. I am appreciative of the many CEO's, company leaders, fellow investors - plus, the wonderful ecosystem of analysts, bankers, attorneys, consultants, recruiters and my many co-investors in VC & PE. I am grateful to have become friends with so many of you over the years; a heartfelt thank you to everyone.I am really charged up about some new opportunities I am working with now. And will share more in the coming months with all of you!As a reminder on our original mandate I helped to perfect after my first fund (Path4 Ventures) - which I am proud to say we faithfully followed: TEXO Ventures invests in early-stage healthcare companies – and we invest in passionate entrepreneurs. Attila is a business management and consulting firm providing modern solutions for clients in a variety of healthcare areas. I specialized in their hospital assets in Austin, Texas as the chief administrative officer. This wide ranging role includes working in areas such as: Finance (treasury, fundraising, reporting), Strategic Planning (establishing vision, optimizing partnerships, planning/analysis), Fundraising (establishing short and mid-term plans; pitching/interfacing with investors, etc.), and supporting daily activities including providing leadership to hospital managers.

Joined an innovative healthcare startup, Ortho Kinematics (OKI). The company provided imaging analysis for the spinal column using image recognition technology. OKI allowed deep insights in the the spine's range of motion and performance. The company got investment from both Medtronic and Nuvasive. It was sold to Wenzel Spine and has been rebranded as Statera Spine. During my time there I utilized many of the startup skills and experience garnered through working at Spinal Restoration and LDR Spine. Worked closely with the CEO/co-founder to get funding, build strategic partnerships within the medical device industry, create regulatory pathways and develop a marketing program.

Path4 Ventures was a healthcare venture capital fund based in Austin, Texas. Path4 is/was unique in the special agreement created between itself and Austin Ventures to seek out and co-fund two healthcare companies. Path4 investigated a wide range of opportunities and ultimately recommended an investment in both Spinal Restoration and LDR Spine USA (now known as LDR; publicly traded under symbol LDRH). Path4 is no longer actively investing -- it completed its fund objectives; LDR did an IPO in September 2013 - and was subsequently taken private by Zimmer Biomet for over $1B. What a great success for all of us, especially our investors! I learned so much with my first venture capital fund and grateful for the support we had working with Austin Ventures (Austin's OG venture capital group), led by VC icons, Joe Aragona and Ken DeAngelis!. I will forever be appreciative of Joe's mentorship, leadership by example and consistent integrity.We made a lot of money for a lot people...then got to improve upon the mandate and approach with the creation of TEXO Ventures. Very blessed and grateful for this experience!

How lucky (blessed?) was I to get my healthcare start with (originally) Intermedics Orthopedics?! And so fortunate to work alongside David Floyd during the turnaround of the company when it became, Centerpulse Orthopedics. We worked (really) hard, took some chances on high-risk/high-reward strategies - and got really lucky with a turnaround that exited for just under $1B!; btw, thank you Zimmer who would eventually buy another one of my companies (that would be LDR Spine)!Strategic Planning, Sales Support, Surgeon Affairs, Compliance, Upstream Marketing, Marketing Communication, MIS Initiatives, Hip/Knee/Shoulder Product Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Budgeting, Company-wide strategy planning. Before this role, was head of business development with an international team focused on orthopedics/med devices. Also did stint in organizational development and worked with Sulzer business unit presidents on strategic planning, executive coaching (working with Dr. Renee Rogers) and change management. Started my 15 year career at Sulzer Medica in engineering.
