Coordinates plan review and staff comments with the appropriate departments.• Inspects contractor work, checking for accuracy, codes compliance and state regulations; ensures that various projects are completed according to plan design and specification, including new roadways, sidewalks and bridge construction, etc.• Assists the Street Director with preparing and administering the departmental budget, forecasting funding for staff, equipment, materials, and supplies; • Submits budget recommendations and justifications; monitors expenditures against approved budget.• Assists the department in the development of the Capital Investment Plan (CIP) for roadway projects.• Contributes to the long-range planning of the City and participates in various task forces and committees.• Provides information to City management and officials; attends Board Meetings as appropriate.• Assists the Street Director by being on-call for emergency phone calls regarding city streets, storm damage and adverse driving situations.• In the absence of the Street Department Director, performs all duties and functions of the Director and serves as the supervisor of the department staff.
