I came to California at age 14. When not in school I spent most free time studying classical music (piano) and live theater. I joined the navy on 18th BD and was discharged on 21st. My next move was to New York where I was accepted into the Juilliard School for musical compostion piano studies. I finished my undergraduate years at Columbia University and moved to San Francisco for graduate work at University of San Francisco and Cal Berkeley. I started my teaching career at Allegheny College, then North Adams State College, and then out to the American Graduate School for International Management in Phoenix AZ; newly married to Rachel. During our seven years in Phoenix I served four years as associate professor of international economics, finance and banking at the AGSIM and then made my first career change to health care administration. During my three years with the Department of Health I worked alongside the director setting up new outreach clinics, fully staffed and linked to main hospital. These units served as the entry points into the health care delivery system. I returned to San Diego and continued as a licensed Nursing Home Administrator. When the company was sold five years later I moved back into academia as a publishing consultant with Harcourt Brace and as an Academic Liaison for Thomson Higher Education. Online education was just in its infancy and I spent the next four years traveling nationwide working to set up new online education programs in various colleges and universities. In 2007, due to the needs of a family member, my interest and research activities focused on the field of mental Illness. I am presently an Educator and Advocate for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and am happily pursuing a whole new field of interest and research.
