Sequence Utility Resource Project: We redesigned and streamlined this critical service that serves as a data asset and allows users to store, search, and analyze sequence data to help fuel the R&D pipeline. Adapted the SeqUR web app from Vue to React while keeping the original app running and without impacting business deliverables. Championed the OneSearch refactor to combine 15 search-related APIs into a single flexible search API that dynamically generates SQL to handle client requests.Marker Curator Project: Developed a web app that allows users to search, create and update genetic marker targets in P360 assets. Users can link markers to transformation events and curate distinct markers to make them available for linking to related assays. Participated in usability studies, design sessions, workshops, and planning meetings. Developed many features, technical spikes and bug fixes while frequently refactoring to keep tech debt low.Teamwork: Focused on team enablement by tackling complex infrastructure changes, larger cross-app efforts, large refactoring efforts, design improvements and technical debt and by creating developer guides and playbooks for complex issues and advanced topics that are shared with the team; Mentored 6 of our novice and entry-level developers over the past 3 years using pair-programming, mini-retros and discussions. Implemented a POC to simulate an Identity Provider (IdP) driven SAML-based authentication flow with the NYL client. Examined and compared potential authentication providers including Auth0, PingOne, and PingFederate. Performed configuration deep-dives on commercial reverse proxies and load balancers including Traefik, Envoy, Nginx, and HAProxy, as well as custom solutions involving Node Proxy, Docker, and AWS technologies.Actuarial Solutions / Domino-DPP API Project: We partnered with RGA to create an API that provides a secure and controlled way to provision and de-provision sensitive data from the RGA datalake via DPP to Domino. This API helped to protect the integrity of the Domino data science workbench environment by limiting and governing the exposure of protected data.Actuarial Solutions / Predictive Modeling: Created and maintained environments for several health and risk-related predictive model services that were used by our Digital Solutions applications.Actuarial Solutions / Domino 4.2.2 Upgrade: Worked with Domino vendor and Cloud Operations team to update cloud infrastructure and install 4.2.2 version of Domino with CNI custom networking which enables our data science users to take advantage of Spark jobs in the cloud.AWS Solutions Architect Associate Certified - Feb 2020.

Worked on an Agile / Dev Ops team of 4 developers, a Product Owner, and a Product Specialist.Portfolio Market Target (PMT) Project: We developed a SPA web application that allows regional and global product teams to plan and execute vegetable product portfolios. The PMT tool has enabled crop teams across the world to collaborate closely, and has been a key factor in standardizing their advancement process. Our group was focused on development and Support of Treasury Relations and System Support (TRASS) applications.Treasury Investment System (TIS) Project: I designed and developed a single page application (SPA) that allows counterparties to conduct trades with the Federal Reserve in order to invest the Treasury's excess capital. I worked on a team of 6 developers using Agile methodologies.GTAS Project: I prototyped and developed web service containing rules engine to categorize and summarize amounts submitted from government agencies toward the federal budget. I also developed the front end reporting piece for intra-governmental transactions. Both teams were 3-4 developers using an Agile/RUP hybrid.

Our group within operations focused on development and support of Manufacturing Engineering Systems (MES) applications. I was responsible for designs, development of complex algorithms, mock ups, test-driven Java development, infrastructure, deployment plans, installation instructions, technical documentation, and defects. Participated in planning, usability reviews, team coordination tasks, peer-reviews, and mentoring. Co-founded a Developer Enrichment Forum for discussing Java-related articles. PackRat Project: I designed and developed highly-concurrent Java service application that collects operations and workflow data for reporting and performance analysis.PUGL Project: I designed and implemented Java Swing application to print pallet labels for “Brite-Stacking” and declaring semi-finished products to SAP.Premier Tech Project: I partnered with another developer to create a Java Plugin paired with a highly-concurrent Java service app to send mechanical recipes to Premier Tech baggers.Stoppage Time Assignment & Reporting (STAR) Project: I worked on a team of 5 developers to deliver a suite of apps that allows operators to enter reasons for efficiency losses on equipment. The application suite integrates with SAP for reporting and analysis.Packing Execution Project: I adapted a suite of Packing applications to integrate with SAP; supported 8 plants on-site for each upgrade.Globe Go-Live Support: I supported plants on-site for going “live” with SAP integration.Batch Management Project: I created 3 web-based touch screen apps on a team of 2 developers for registering batching and related materials.Campaign and Recipe Management (CARMA) Conversion Project: I converted an existing Visual Age C++ application in Java Swing using Agile principles and XP methodology.Other Projects and Tools: Slurry Recipe (SLURPE) Conversion Project, Clinton BatchVue Project, Contract Tracking Rewrite Project, Queue Helper, SCIMSim Lite, MES Email Utility

I was responsible for development and integration of client applications.TDK Timecard Project (In House): I designed and implemented a web-based application for time and project tracking on an Agile project team of 2 Java developers. I was responsible for prototyping with Wicket, design and implementation of service and DAO layers, database setup and scripts, Spring Bean wiring, application design and flow diagrams, and maintaining technical docs.

I was responsible for development and support of Emerging and Internet Solutions (EIS) applications.MasterCard Payment Gateway (MPG) Projects: Our team added major functionality to the MPG suite of apps, including: Merchant Matching, Private Vendor Labels, and Supplier Maintenance. MPG was designed to handle high-dollar merchant transactions (> $1M) in a highly-secure workflow. I worked on several project teams ranging from 3 to 20 developers in an Agile-like environment. My major contributions were test-driven design and development of service and persistence layer, a Supplier key generator using Java Cryptography, Struts bootstrapping and configuration, template-driven e-mail modules, reporting modules, and database setup and maintenance scripts. Some additional responsibilities include reviewing technical docs, working defects, and on-site integration.

I was responsible for development and support of Imaging Workflow applications. I mentored other developers in Java, C, C++, VB, RUP, design patterns, and best practices. I created many prototype and proof of concept applications to quickly identify project risk. I was the fourth person in the company to bridge from another language into Java by completing Java Self-Starters Course.PNC Workflow Project: This in-house customized workflow system digitized financial documents and automatically routed them to the appropriate groups. Overall it reduced paper consumption and improved workflow efficiency. I was responsible for front-end development, screen behavior design, prototyping and comparing third-party workflow solutions, workflow services development, environmental configuration, deployments, infrastructure, testing, and primary support of the final product. Broker Workstation New Account Setup (BWNAS) Project: I developed and tested this richly-featured thick client app to help brokers with the complexities of setting up new accounts. I designed many modules to help with communication, parsing and creating XML, validation and error handling. Our team used RUP and UML design practices.Audit Trail Enhancements (ATE) Project: Our team added custom workflow auditing to an existing suite of server and client applications. I was responsible for general development and testing, conversion of server apps to NT Services, and adapting 3rd party Visual C++ DLL libraries to work with VB client modules.

As an engineer in the Advanced Development Center (ADC), my goal was to develop innovative and differentiated concepts in software using Digital Image Processing, Pattern Recognition, Neural Networks, and Fuzzy Logic.Airport Concourse Egress System (ACES) Project: I adapted the prototype of a computer vision-based security system to an ActiveX Server, and successfully interfaced with customer’s client VB app. We implemented this system at Lambert airport and it successfully protected concourses against individuals attempting to re-enter via the egress.Digital Video Recorder (DVR) Project: I developed the algorithms for the DVR prototype, successfully demonstrated to customer and delivered to our commercial products department. This system was patented (see below) for its tiny storage footprint and its motion detection capabilities and has promising applications in ATM monitoring and security.Automated Prescription Validation Project: I led development of a pill recognition system for Express Scripts that used image processing and feature extraction to validate prescriptions as they were being automatically dispensed. The system reduced the pharmacists needed to manually check each prescription order and dramatically reduced the overall human error rate.Striker/Sabre Radar Project: I assisted with developing the Built-In-Testing code for Sensor Management Unit installed on Striker/Sabre military vehicle. Responsible for radar audio mode implementation in VB and final testing of SMU hardware and software.
