My professional career started in the United States Marine Corps where I served as Sergeant within an Infantry Unit, 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines in Camp Lejeune, NC. Proudly served and honorably discharged after 4 years of active duty and 1 1/2 in a reserve unit. I began my 20 year law enforcement career with the Dyer Metropolitan Police Department in 2002. I have served in the Patrol Division, Detective Bureau, and Community Policing Unit and held the rank of Corporal. While serving with Dyer PD, I became a member of the Northwest Regional SWAT Team and held positions of Sniper, Sniper Team Leader, Assistant Team Leader as well as an Operator and Entry Team Assistant Team Leader. I served with NWR SWAT for 14 years. While holding the rank of Corporal for Dyer PD and a member of SWAT, I began my career within public schools as a DARE Officer from 2009-2014 and was then hired by the Lake Central School Corporation as the corporation school resource officer from 2014-2023. During this time, I oversaw and assisted with implementing a school resource officer program as well as school safety protocols for the school corporation of approximately 10,000 students and 600+ staff members. I maintained positive relationships and training between 3 police departments, a sheriffs department and 3 towns in which our students resided in. I was a board member for the Lake County Safe Schools Commission as well as a Region Representative for INSROA- Indiana School Resource Officers Association. I have been an active member of SAFE for all Lake County as well as the Vice President/Trainer of SHAPE- Sharing Hope Addiction Prevention Education which is a preventative substance abuse program for parents, school staff, healthcare workers and first responders. I am currently retired from all of the above but am using my experience in pursuing my dream of making schools near and far safer for all students and staff as well as assisting businesses with bettering their own safety protocols and programs. I currently teach the AVERT program Active Violence Emergency Response Training in churches, schools, youth groups, town/city personnel, law and medical offices, small businesses and large corporations throughout the United States.
