I am at Winn Dixie as an Access Developer on a 3 month contract

I was with Trailworks supporting an access front end SQL Server backend proprietary application with over 900 customers.

I was brought on board TGS as a Senior Access Developer to manage and develop Access databases maintained by the IT Department. All databases currently in Access are being moved to SQL Server with an Access GUI. I am responsible for converting the database tables as well as converting all queries to Views and Stored Procedures as necessary and developing the VBA required to support the new structure. All processing is done server side using DSN-Less connections.

I was contracted by Aviva to provide an Access 2010 database to track all advertising campaigns (T.V., Radio, Paper and E-Mail). The database tracks all Campaigns from start to finish and reports on all metrics involved including success or failure of Campaign based on the gouls of the campaign and tracking of hours expended to capture ROI. It also has an automated email module to notify all stakeholders of notable events as well as a comprehensive Audit Trail and a feature that allows switching between test and live data.

Provided part time from home services to ACS to finish development of a Hospice services database begun by another developer for Medicare/Medicaid for the state of New Hampshire.

I was contracted by Delta to provide an automated import from multiple sources of flight statistics for all delta operations and automated reporting of same.

I was contracted by Fiserv to create 3 new 2007 Microsoft Access databases to track Sales Attainment and Forecasting for the Finance Department. Challenges involved extensive Excel import and export automation, comprehensive ad hoc reporting and optimizing GUI for ease of use. Featured a Query by form and Create Pivot Query by form for ad hoc reporting. I also created Commission Statements for the Sales team and was required to display the statements in any selected currency converting from USD to Local Currency as specified. Created upload fliles for SAP.

I was contracted ACS who processes Medicaid and Medicare claims for the state of Georgia to review, repair and enhance 6 Access databases and create 4 new Access databases used by the Correspondence Control team and Quality Assurance. Two of the databases are used to automatically generate letters to Members or Providers based on claims processing. Included in the enhancements is the ability to generate letters and attachments based on time since last correspondence and review board decisions. Also I leveraged an Oracle data warehouse using pass through queries to views to auto-populate Member and Provider information on entering Member/Provider ID thus saving data entry time and eliminating keying errors. The QA team audits these letters and had a very labor intense reporting process. I added the ability to produce about 500 reports for individuals within the company and email to the appropriate person saving over 16 hours per day. Also the QA team is required to submit Audit Samples to the state on a monthly basis. Automating this process saved about 20 hours per month and ensured accuracy. One of the new database tracks claims that need to be reprocessed, the other is a dynamic reporting tool linked to a db2 database that provides reporting metrics for all correspondence related to Medicaid and Medicare claims for the state of Georgia for the past year based on user selections.

I was contracted by Internap to provide a dispute tracking tool for Accounting as an interim solution while IT developed an Oracle based solution. We started with 3 excel spreadsheets and one Access Database and combined them into one tool. In discussions with IT it was decided to use the schema I developed as a map for creating the Oracle tables and go ahead and store the data in Oracle wile the GUI was being developed. It was then decided that since some data already existed in Oracle and was being keyed in multiple places to further extend the Oracle to Access mapping to use current Oracle data as well as update Oracle from Access. Also featured is an extensive Audit Trail since the application is financially sensitive, dynamic reporting capabilities, preformatted reporting including roll forward, aged, lag and contra reports for accounting, multiple User roles to restrict or grant read write privileges as appropriate and extensive data validation.

I was contracted by Mckesson to automate a 26 page payroll report generation process for the Sales Incentive Management team. The process involves automated import of excel and text files into access, manipulation of the data and then an automated export back to excel. The manual process took 2 hours and was run 5 days a week every other week. The process now takes 20 minutes and human error is no longer a factor. I was then retained by management to automate a second manual process.

I was contracted by ADP to provide a database and import data into the database from PDF files converted to excel. W2 and W2C information for 3 clients were inadvertently sent incorrect Wage and Salary information for FY 2007. The goal was to reconcile the information sent to the individual employees with the information sent to the IRS and the correct information all of which did not match. I worked with a team of 4 analysts to compile the data into a single searchable source and provide variance information so the analyst could determine the correct figures and provide revised reporting to the employees, the employers and the IRS.

I was contracted by CBIZ/GEBCorp to provide Crystal XI Reporting from SQL Server 2005, convert several Access 2003 databases to SQL Server 2005 and provide administrative support for the SQL Server databases for administration of retirement benefits for employees of counties in Ga. I developed several automated data import/export utilities for Actuarial use. I also developed a “benefits calculator” for field reps allowing them to provide beneficiaries with benefit amounts based on percent of salary put into the plan.

I was contracted by Tax Partners to build and administer for the full life cycle an Access back front end/back end solution to collect and store Telecom, Food and Beverage and Use (Sales) tax information for all States, Counties, Cities and Districts in the United States. I normalized and consolidated data from 3 sources to create the database, added needed tables for data not yet known and set up a call tracking system for a 30 person call center to verify existing data and enter new information. Also included were comprehensive statistics on calls and completion, an Audit trail to track records changed, Date/Time of change as well as old and new values, comprehensive reporting and providing bulk updates from various sources where appropriate. I also assisted with migration of data to SQL server for the final .NET version and provided complex validation reports to ensure accurate migration.

I provided data mining and validation for Sprint Nextel for a 180 million dollar submission to the FCC. My task was to find all invoices, purchase orders and vouchers related to the rebanding project and produce various reports for submission. I also provided several ad hoc tools for the finance team to improve productivity.

I was contracted by Circuit City in Richmond Va. as part a team of developers to provide Ad Hoc reporting in Access 2003 for management while the organization is transitioning from various legacy and home grown systems to an integrated data collection and reporting tool. The projects I was involved in included developing and maintaining Scorecards to track overall business performance, product and organizational hierarchy, FY 07 budget planning, and Add Effectiveness. This required rapid and accurate Access development of GUI’s and dynamic report generation forms using VBA as well as the creation of Tables and Views as required from platforms including Oracle, SQL Server 2000, AS 400, Paradox and DB2 at the transaction level to feed Access Reporting.

I was contracted by American Express in Phoenix Az. to provide a Microsoft Access 2003 dynamic reporting solution for the Business Analysis and Forecasting unit of an AMEX business to business call center comprised of 50 + locations worldwide. Data resided on a SQL Server backend with a front end (IEX) that did not provide the needed flexibility for the departments reporting needs and was deemed too slow. I created an Access GUI that mimicked the needed portions of the SQL database, provided an automated update module and developed ad hoc query’s and a reporting form using VBA to meet the clients’ need and to satisfy requirements for SAP uploads. The resulting solution saved an estimated 30 man hours per week and provided accurate and reliable information in a fraction of the time previously required.

I was contracted by Deloitte Consulting in Dallas TX. as part of a team of developers to create and implement an Access tool to allow Deloitte partners and their endorsers to remotely participate in a year end evaluation process. This involved the automated collection of data from over 700 previously distributed Access databases into a second subset of databases that will be distributed then aggregated into a master database for reporting. The project was on a very short deadline requiring an accelerated development process with out of the box accuracy and a very short testing cycle.

I was contracted to provide Wells Fargo with two new databases comprised of SQL Server back ends and Access front ends with a user friendly VBA intensive GUI’s as well as a dynamic report generation GUI. These were a message statement queue tracker and a management reporting tool. I also normalized and optimized four existing databases. The message statement queue tracker includes a “conflict” report that searches every record that may potentially conflict with a selected record. The logic required to attain this ability is outside the normal capabilities of Access and required extensive data manipulation in VBA including multiple record-set walkthroughs and temporary tables. The management reporting tool features a very complex set of reports (actually one report manipulated by VBA) designed to forecast availability of resources based on past utilization of time. This report is dynamically created by operators through a selection form that filters based on any combination of selected parameters and groups and sorts based on user selection from the report generation GUI. Also featured is the ability to exclude records from the report that met the selection criteria but the operator wishes to remove.

I was contracted as an independent consultant to provide America West Airlines with a fully searchable electronic version of the Boeing 737, 757 and Airbus Maintenance Manual in Microsoft Access intended to insure compliance with various regulating agencies including the FAA. The structure is highly complex containing 48 tables and approximately 200 queries to achieve the desired flexibility. This manual contains a search engine capable of locating records by any combination of criteria the operator may select including a full text search capability including data that resides in sub forms. The GUI is extremely user friendly and includes the ability (through VBA) to add to dropdown lists on the fly where appropriate and before update checks to ensure required data is present and key violations are found prior to updating the back end and directing the user to the fields in error. Also featured is a dynamic report generation form, which will build a report based on user selections of various parameters to filter records and specify sort order and an audit trail to track all changes made to the database.

I was contracted by MTDSW to create a multi user Quality Control Database comprising 12 modules that integrated 12 separate Excel and Access reporting systems previously in use. The database contains several hundred tables, queries and forms to accomplish tasks required by various groups within the company. It features a GUI that is tailored to each department for easy navigation. It also contains over 400 separate reports involving very complex data manipulation and statistical processing for quality control analysis.
