Representing plaintiffs in a pro bono litigation to enforce the Minnesota constitutional right to funding sufficient to meet all state standards. I'm working with a group of Minnesota and North Dakota residents who oppose the efforts of the US Army Corps of Engineers to expand the scope of the Fargo-Moorehead flood control project beyond the original intent. The Federal District Court granted us an injunction against further construction, and Governors Dayton and Burgum have created a task force to develop an alternative solution. I represented Carlton County Land Stewards in the Sandpiper Pipeline proceedings, resulting in the cancellation of that project. Other interesting past cases include the Supreme Court case recognizing the rights of landowners in power line cases to relocation benefits, and a successful fraud case against a bank that embroiled its customers in an advance money scam, the Dead Lake trilogy of cases in the Court of Appeals and Minnesota Supreme Court, an effort which protected natural environmental lake from intensive development. In the CapX2020 route proceedings, I assisted Avon Township in protecting the Avon Hills region by successfully redirecting the 345kV power line. In Stengrim v. Middle River -- Minnesota Supreme Court's only SLAPP decision. I'm author of the Minnesota CLE's deskbook on water project and drainage law, and provide frequent advice to watershed districts and counties on flood control, governance issues, and major construction disputes. In the last several years, I've a number of mechanics lien cases in the Court of Appeals.
