Dr Jerry Fishenden is a technologist, writer, and composer. His career spans public and private sectors, including roles advising and guiding governments on how to use technology to tackle some of the biggest public policy issues facing society. Previous roles include Chief Technology Officer / technology business leader at Microsoft UK; the City of London lead financial regulator; Parliament, where he pioneered their data and video network and put Parliament on the World Wide Web; and the NHS. Jerry was appointed specialist adviser to House of Commons’ committee inquiries into digital government. Other previous engagements include: Specialist Adviser on digital identity to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS); adviser to the Isle of Man Government; technical consultant to the National Audit Office; Chief Technical Adviser to the Home Office; interim Deputy CTO UK Government; Senior Technical Adviser to the Cabinet Office.His latest book, “Fracture: The collision between technology and democracy—and how we fix it”, explores the opportunities and challenges created by technology for the future of democracy and our democratic institutions.Jerry is a member of the Scottish Government’s Digital Identity Scotland Expert Group; a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET); a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA); and a member of the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain.
