Operations and Human Resources Director for Navy’s largest operational, aviation squadron of almost 600 personnel in 3 separate states (managing over 20 programs and projects and serving on 11 different teams, committees and boards). Reports directly to the chief executive providing expert advice in setting the strategic direction for the organization, formulating policies and developing and evaluating the diverse staff. Provided quality leadership training, coaching and mentoring to organizational executives, senior and mid-level managers, first-line supervisors and employees, thus maximizing and ensuring sustained command readiness of 6,000 mishap free flight hours annually and 100% mission accomplishment.Led the organization to unprecedented successes in performance and fiscal responsibility, safety, training and staff development, mission accomplishment, material management and readiness and process improvements, earning 2 battle efficiency awards, 3 maintenance excellence awards, 2 safety awards, 3 medical readiness awards and 3 employee retention awards all in a 3-year period.Conducted at least 4, and in some cases 10, pre-emptive career development counseling sessions for optimal professional development of all employees, enhancing their upward mobility, job satisfaction and ultimately, the retention of better qualified employees.Launched aggressive one-on-one coaching sessions for at risk employees who were in danger of being fired for failure to meet prescribed fitness standards or failure to complete physical readiness tests. Developed an aggressive 5-day a week exercise program, including weekly weigh-ins and counseling with leadership. This coaching approach empowered employees to reach their fitness goals, stay in the Navy and reduced mandatory participation in the fitness enhancement program by 70%; increasing organizational effectiveness and saving the Navy $35K in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training and reduced productivity costs.
